Formica Corporation was honored to partner with Katz-Moses Tools and Bourbon Moth to sponsor the inaugural Grain to Grain event at the historic Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, KY, Oct 2-3, 2026. The event raised more than $75,000 for the Katz-Moses Woodworkers with Disabilities Fund.
The exclusive event brought together 100 guests for VIP access to the distillery, tours, dinner and an evening celebrating woodworking, craftsmanship and a shared commitment to making the craft accessible to more people. Funds were raised through tickets, auction items, raffle entries, sponsorships and donations. The generosity of all involved was impressive.

The event was the result of a collaboration between Jonathan Katz-Moses, founder of Katz-Moses Tools, and Jason Hibbs and Craig Paulsen of Bourbon Moth, with extensive support from the team at Buffalo Trace Distillery, especially Jonathan Hartman, Master Woodworker, Buffalo Trace Whiskey Woodcraft and his team.
In the week leading up to Grain to Grain, Bourbon Moth worked alongside the talented team from the Buffalo Trace Whiskey Woodcraft shop to create a one-of-a-kind whiskey cabinet from a real, used Weller Millennium bourbon barrels. The team developed an innovative approach to the barrel staves, using them as veneer skins to create a cabinet with a distinctive woodgrain character.
The cabinet also features Homapal® M9426-99 Polished Copper, adding a warm metallic accent to the interior of the piece. As Jason Hibbs explained, the copper provided an extra visual element behind the cabinet's glass storage and complemented the look of the bourbon barrel and distillery-inspired design.
The finished cabinet will be raffled as part of Giving Tuesday on Dec. 1 through Katz-Moses Tools. Purchase tickets HERE through Katz-Moses Tools for a chance to own this one-of-a-kind piece.

The Grain to Grain event supports the Katz-Moses Woodworkers with Disabilities Fund, a nonprofit dedicated to helping people with physical and mental disabilities access the tools and resources they need to pursue woodworking as a hobby, craft or livelihood.
The fund provides tools and other forms of support tailored to the individual needs of its recipients. That can include specialized equipment, modifications that make tools more accessible or simply providing the resources someone needs to continue developing their skills.

For Jonathan Katz-Moses, the mission grew from seeing firsthand how woodworking could provide a sense of purpose, confidence and accomplishment for people of all abilities. The organization has since helped hundreds of woodworkers and continues to expand its grant programs and support.
Grain to Grain brought that mission together with the passion of the woodworking community, the hospitality of Buffalo Trace and the creativity of Bourbon Moth.
Formica Corporation is proud to have played a small part in supporting an event that celebrates craftsmanship while helping make the opportunity to create accessible to more people.
A special thank you and congratulations to Jonathan Katz-Moses; Jason Hibbs and Craig Paulsen of Bourbon Moth; and Jonathan Hartman, Master Woodworker for Buffalo Trace Distillery along with his expert woodworking team; for an outstanding event.
